Testimonials

"Opening our home to a child for a few weeks changed us more than we expected. We thought we were just providing a safe place—but we became a source of comfort, laughter, and stability during a scary time in their life. It deepened our family's faith and reminded us how powerful love and presence can be. We still keep in touch with the mom, cheering her on as she gets back on her feet. It’s a beautiful journey of trust and grace."
Jennifer L - Host Family
"When the McMillan family welcomed a child through Safe Families, I reached out right away to see how I could help. As a Family Friend, I brought over diapers and toys—thanks to one of my Resource Friends—and later delivered a full meal for the family. I've learned that even small acts of service can reflect God's love in powerful ways. It reminded me that being present and available is part of how we carry each other’s burdens and follow the example of Christ."
Linda C - Family Friend
"I’m not someone who could host, but when I heard a family needed diapers, I thought—‘I can do that!’ Then it became groceries, then school supplies. Every time I drop something off, I know it’s meeting a real need and lifting a little bit of the burden. It’s humbling to be part of something so practical and so full of God’s love."

The Johnson Family – “A Safe Place to Land”

When the Johnsons said yes to becoming a Host Family, they didn’t know what to expect. A month later, they welcomed Mateo, a quiet 3-year-old whose mom was facing a crisis—no support, no home, and a sudden health emergency.

“We cleared out the guest room and prayed, ‘Lord, let this be more than just a bed—make it a place of peace,’” Amy said.

At first, Mateo clung to his toy car and kept his distance. But within days, he began to smile, play, and laugh—especially during bedtime stories. “He asked for the same book every night—‘Jesus Loves You’—and we read it together like a little tradition.”

The Johnsons also connected with Mateo’s mom, offering updates, prayer, and encouragement. When she was ready to bring him home, she was stronger, hopeful, and deeply grateful.

“Our role wasn’t to fix everything,” said Tom. “It was to hold space—so God could do the healing.”

Today, they still hear from Mateo’s mom. She once said, “You gave me breathing room when I couldn’t breathe.”

This is what Safe Families is all about—opening homes and hearts to bring peace and hope.
